Dear Supporter, Alice Farr

Fighting to protect ancient woodland throughout the UK is no easy task and takes a variety of approaches combined with a bit of imagination. For example last week I was giving planning advice to local communities, before that being interviewed for Newsnight and Radio 4 and some of you might also have seen me dressed up as a tree objecting to the second runway at Stansted. And this week we received the news that we have saved Lake Wood in Uckfield.

This might seem a bizarre combination of activities but it's all run of the mill when you are part of the Woods under Threat Team! Unfortunately it is not always such fun and games, this week I attended a Public Inquiry to give evidence on behalf of the Woodland Trust. The Woodland Trust is objecting to an extension of an open cast coal mine at Margam in Wales that would have a devastating impact on an area of ancient woodland. You can find out more about the Public Inquiry on our blog...

And remember, if you know of a wood under threat you can visit our website to find out what you can do to help.
