Dear Supporter,

Did you know that, as well as our members and supporters, the many companies, Janet Anders receives her medal for overall Volunteer of the Yearorganisations and charitable trusts who help support our work, plus our dedicated team of staff, the Woodland Trust has another critical group of people whose help is vital to our work?

Of course, I’m talking about our extensive army of volunteers.

Last year alone over 530,000 people donated over 240,000 hours of their time to help us take care of our sites, participate in our projects, plant trees or get involved in our office work. This equated to a monetary value of over £1.9 million – a terrific effort for which we are very grateful.

To say thank you in a small way, every year we run an award in which many of our volunteers are recognised. Janet Anders, who has been organising weekly volunteer work parties at Philipshill Wood in Buckinghamshire for over 14 years, was recently presented with her medal for overall Volunteer of the Year.

If you fancy becoming one of our volunteers, please check out our latest big initiative – the Ancient Tree Hunt – we need lots of volunteer help with this.

Kind regards,
Sue Holden, chief executive
