WentwoodDear Supporter
I am incredibly excited to be sharing with you the news that today Wentwood Forest has been saved. 24 January 2006 will go down in our history as the date we signed the final papers that put Wales' largest ancient woodland safely in our hands.

In the second half of 2005, I was amazed to see the `Save Wentwood Forest` campaign unfolding to become our most successful ever. We cannot thank our supporters enough for making it possible. Read the full story here.

2005 overall was an incredible year for the Woodland Trust. But 2006 looks set to be just as dramatic. In this e-newsletter, you can read about how you can help stop the expansion of Luton Airport destroying ancient woodland, how we're revealing groundbreaking information about restoring woods that have already been damaged and discover how you could go trekking with two internationally lauded explorers.

Finally, if you're still looking for a perfect New Year's resolution that doesn't involve the pain of dieting or donning your running shoes, why not dedicate a tree this year? It's a lasting, meaningful act and there's no willpower required!

All the very best for 2006.

Sue Holden
Chief executive, The Woodland Trust
