Dear Supporter,
If you are staying at home this summer - enjoying a 'staycation' - why not make the most of your holiday with our range of 'staycation' activities'? There are 1000s of great woods to visit free of charge across the UK. Discover the best woods near you or in the region of Britain you're visiting with an Exploring Woodland Guide.
It proves that not every holiday need cost the Earth. Enjoying days in familiar surroundings can uncover hidden gems. The other day we walked out of the front door, through a local park, down to a country lane through a Trust wood and climbed the far valley side to enjoy a picnic. The weather wasn't perfect but our walk became an adventure.
Keeping children entertained through the long summer holiday can be a challenge. That's why we've got 100s of FREE downloads for families to enjoy in our BIG summer challenge. The Woodland Trust's nature detectives website is packed full of fun games, spotter sheets, informal play ideas and other great outdoor activities. Take a look at naturedetectives.org.uk
Whether you're travelling by foot, bike, bus, train or car, add interest to your journey by seeking out the UK's oldest inhabitants. The Ancient Tree Hunt team, who in the past brought you knitting patterns, are now offering eco bags, flash cards and DVDs as rewards for every old tree you record during August. It's easy, it's fun and it's free to take part. It's so simple - even a grown up can do it.
Make the outdoors your playground this summer!
