Dear Supporter

Christmas Card Recycling SchemeHere are some facts to astonish you. If you laid end to end all the cards that have been collected through the Woodland Trust's Christmas Card Recycling Scheme they would reach from London to New York City ten times over. In the last eight years, we have recycled nearly 300 million cards. Last year alone, we collected enough cards to prevent over 1,000 tonnes of waste going to landfill.

I think the beauty of the Scheme is how it works on so many levels. Not only does it promote the fact that recycling paper saves trees but it has also led cabinet ministers and major celebrities to speak out in support of the Woodland Trust. Find out here how and where you can take part in this year's Scheme at TESCO and WHSmith.

Of course, we can do even more for the environment by reducing the amount of paper we use in the first place. Easier said than done maybe. But have you thought about signing up to BT paper free billing? It's really simple to do and for every person that converts, BT will provide a sapling for the Woodland Trust to plant.

Forward this to a friend (using the button on the left) and we can see even more benefit. Keeping you informed via an e-newsletter is in itself a brilliant way for a charity to cut costs and ultimately save trees by reducing paper.

This will be our last e-newsletter before Christmas. Thank you so much for all your support this year. Here's wishing you a really merry festive season and a very happy 2006!

Sue Holden
Chief executive, The Woodland Trust

P.S. A big thank you to everyone who took action over the proposed Weymouth Relief Road. There were over 1,000 objections received by the Council to the scheme which is great news. Find out more about the relief road and its impact.
